Where are your clinics and do you have plans for more?
At the moment we share space in 4 medical clinics: Whaiora, Masterton; Ora Toa Poneke, Wellington; Maraeroa, Porirua; and Dargaville Medical, Dargaville. We’re eyeing up new locations in the communities we know really need them but our expansion depends on funding and support. We’ll get there!
How does your charity work?
We start with primary schools and with their help, screen all the kids; we follow this with free eye exams to those that are referred from school; finally we provide prescription glasses through our lab in Wellington. Best of all, we provide the screeening and eye tests at no cost to families/schools! We also provide free glasses where we can.
Do you test adults, too?
We don’t offer eye exams for adults. However, adults can buy frames and prescription lenses through Mr Foureyes, and as a bonus – you save money and help us continue to provide free eye tests and glasses to children.
What’s the tie-in between the Foureyes Foundation and Mr Foureyes?
The co-founder of the Foureyes Foundation, Ravi Dass, also founded Mr Foureyes. Desperate to help Kiwi kids, Ravi and his wife Steph set up a buy-one-gift-one scheme for their optometry business – for every pair of glasses you buy from Mr Foureyes, they donate a pair to the Foureyes Foundation, to be given to a child in need in NZ.
Can I see where the glasses I donated through Mr Foureyes ended up?
Keep an eye on our Facebook page and sign up to our newsletter, if you haven’t already – we send out regular updates of how the Foundation is helping kids through both of those channels. Unfortunately we won’t be able to tell you exactly which school (or which child) your purchase assisted. As well as being a logistical challenge, we also need to protect people’s privacy.
